In the Mail Saturday

September 6th, 2015 at 11:43 pm

I forgot to mention this in my last post.

Saturday was a bonanza for things in the mail.

I received my $100 AGC from YouGov (a survey site - link in the sidebar.)

I also received my order from Amazon - my pea protein powder, two plate hooks and .... my hair cutting scissors!

The scissors arrived in a plush little zip up bag. I'm kind of looking forward to trying to cut my own hair. Kind of. I will try to take before and after pictures to let you all know how it goes.

Hopefully I won't botch it too badly and still have to go pay for a haircut. Big Grin

If this works, then I may never need to pay for a haircut again. Then I'd just need to figure out how to do my own highlights at home ...

Good luck with the haircutting. It make take a couple of tries to get it right, but you will learn. I switched to cutting my own hair back when I was unemployed for 4 months back in 2000, and never went back (except last year when I was again unemployed and wanted a dye job to hide some of the gray in my hair).

It's so funny because I have been considering cutting my hair! My hairdresser is talking about moving to the country and I kind of thought maybe I can get by without a hairdresser from now on? Good luck Smile

Dido - I've got a bit of length again to be able to experiment with - it's been about a year since my last haircut. Hopefully it won't take too many tries. Smile
VS - You should try it! These are the scissors I ordered (recommended by a blogger who is a hairstylist and cuts her own hair)

Hope the hair cutting is a success. I have a hard enough time figuring out how to comb/style mine. Glad you are far better than I.

Rob - too funny Smile My go to hairstyle .... a full ponytail or sides up in a ponytail. Probably why most people don't think I'm actually 39 ...

DIY haircuts do save money. I would recommend against the unicorn ponytail haircut technique. I have seen a number of women do it and it leaves their hair really straggly at the ends. If you wear your hair in up dos or braids, it makes them look ragged. I have my guy trim my hair every two-three months to keep the ends even and get the splits. Sometimes I do S&D if I see any splits, but he is great with the shears so I let him give me free haircuts, rather than pay out a lot of money at the salon for a haircut I wouldn't like.
