Today NE went to the ortho to find out what could be done about his shoulder. His hope was that the ortho would be able to just pop it back into place and thus reduce his pain majorly.
Unfortunately, popping his shoulder back into place is not going to be possible. The ortho and his PA looked at NE in amazement when he told them he'd been walking around with a dislocated shoulder for two months. Apparently this was something the ortho had not come across before.
The end result of it is that the head of the connecting arm bone has rubbed away. So even if the arm/shoulder were popped back together, they wouldn't stay together.
The ortho really wasn't sure what solution there might be. He did refer him to a more specialized doctor in O town.
NE is pretty devastated right now. He's been barely surviving the pain the last two months - holding out for getting insurance, and then once he finally had the insurance, holding out for the fix.
It's looking like neither the insurance nor the fix is very good right now.
I'm really wishing I'd insisted he go to a doctor two months ago and get his shoulder checked out no matter how much it cost. Who knew it would devolve into something so bad?
Those of you who believe in prayer, I'd really appreciate your prayers for NE. He's feeling pretty low right now - especially at the prospect of having to live with this pain indefinitely.
Not Good News for NE

Keep your strength up. Like CB says, there's got to be a solution for this.

PS - The ortho did say something about shoulder replacement - however, he said that that is usually only done on much older people who don't need much mobility, just some. NE would be okay with the limited mobility if it took the pain away!
