Not a good day :(

This morning I found out that my good friend and co-worker's lung cancer has returned. Frown Frown She'll be having surgery the last week of June. Curses and multiple bad words.

Then after our last staff meeting for the year, I found out that one of my favorite people here and one of my regular walking partners has decided to not return next year. Frown Frown Frown Frown Frown

Dealing with both of those today hit me like a ton of bricks. I barely made it home after the staff meeting before bursting hysterically into sobs. When I'd calmed down a little bit, I called NE. He was so sweet, just listening and asking a few questions here and there. Then when he saw I was calmer, he started doing his best to make me laugh. Smile He is such a good man.

I briefly saw what happened in OK today, but after getting the hint of multiple dead children, decided to not look into it too far. Had enough to handle already. I will probably read about it later tonight though. Frown

Some of us got our contracts today, and the rest will tomorrow. That includes me. Days like today ... I wish I was in NE and not here, or NE was here ... Why do adult friends have such a hard time giving each other a hug? Or even a light touch on the shoulder?

Frown This place is going to be so dreary for me next year without my teacher friend. She is truly one of those one of a kind type of people who *really* know God on a personal level.

    So sorry to hear about your friends cancer returning...my office manager just lost her mom to lung cancer in early April...truly a horrible disease....sending you a hug and prayers!

    I'm so sorry; I hope her surgery is successful. Do they think they can get it all?

    I also hope you find some new "kindred spirits" in next year's new staff members.

    ((Hugs)) to you Laura! I hope today is a better day emotionally. I would guess you will still keep in touch with your friend, but I get that it isn't the same. I hope new friends will come your way in the process!

    Thanks everyone. The worst part about my friend with the returned lung cancer is that we all were so hopeful that since it was caught early on last time, that that would be it. Now that it's returned .... Frown
    I hope I find someone kindred again too. Sigh.

    NE sent me the sweetest ecard this morning. I feel so blessed to have him back in my life.

    Man, I had a day like that last week: a co-worker with a cancer scare and two of my best university buddies leaving next year. Hang in there.

    Thanks everyone. Today was .. better I guess. Not feeling very good and really didn't want to go to work at all. But had yearbooks to sell, 7th graders coming in to "help" clean, sign contract for next year, etc. So went in. So tired. So looking forward to the year being over on Friday. Wishing I wasn't doing summer school.

    Sorry you had a rough day...hope you get some rest so tomorrow is better. Saying a prayer for your sick friend. And it is hurtful to lose a good friend and coworker.
