It Wasn't a Mistake!!!!!!!!

December 1st, 2010 at 08:38 pm

As my title indicates, the scholarship money I found in my account yesterday was NOT a mistake!!!!!!

I received an email back from the financial aid office telling me that it is actually a scholarship from my university, and that I'd be receiving another email with more information on it today. I just about fainted dead away.

$2,000.00!!!!

The email with more info was in my university email account (which I rarely check.) It looks like it was some kind of a competitive scholarship which I was entered into back in the fall when I filled out info for a dozen+ scholarships. One of the requirements is to be enrolled in at least 9 graduate hours per semester. This semester I am enrolled in 9, but next semester I only have one 3-hour class left. I've already emailed them to ask about that.

So, it may be just $1,000.00. But ... even so ... $1,000.00!!!!

My second semester is completely paid for now, AND I'll be getting money back. Somewhere between $500 and $1500.

It is just so amazing to me how God has provided for me throughout my life - but especially the past few years while I've been back in school. I'd been worried about how I was going to afford going on interview trips, let alone living expenses until I find a job ... and here drops a huge sum of money from out of nowhere!

Congratulations on the scholarship! You really have been blessed as you pursue your goals, and that leads to it being all the sweeter. How nice to have that waiting in your account as insurance heading into your last semester. Again, well done!

Yes, having money to go on interviews and relocation expenses when you do get a job is crucial. You don't want that to be a stop on your getting a job. Don't forget money to purchase at least one new suit or something to use for interview clothes and making copies and mailing resumes to apply for jobs. Those sound like small expenses, but add up to a lot. Congrats on the scholarship. That's great. As for the 3 hours next semester, if it turns out you have to have 9 hours that semester too, why not take a couple of extra classes? After all, the scholarship is paying for it!

    Thanks dmontngrey!

    Crazyliblady,

Oh yes, those small expenses definitely do add up. I have several appropriate suits for interviews (just need to lose about 15 pounds for one of them to look good ...)

I've already sent in an appeal regarding the second semester scholarship amount. Taking 3 classes would total over $2500.00, so I'd be out the same amount, plus not be able to take on more tutoring students. My additional tutoring students would be more than the extra $1000.00 scholarship money (if not approved.)

I'm hoping that most of my long-distance interviews can be conducted by phone, and then by Skype, and then only if they and I are both really, really interested, I would fly/drive/train to wherever it is located. The extra $1k would be enough for maybe two such trips -- so I'll have to use it *very* carefully.

    Thanks!

I know, right? It is so awesome how God sustains and takes care of us. He arranges things on our behalf without our efforts. That is when you know in spite of our situation or circumstance that He is working things out "for our good." So cool and awesome! Congratulations!
