On Time to Work or Wii for $.99??

June 13th, 2008 at 06:00 pm

That was the question in my head last night when I picked up my mail.

There was flyer from the local $.99 stores advertising that for their 5 year anniversary celebration that they were selling a Wii and Wii Fit to the first 9 customers at one particular location. This location just so happens to be on the way to work.

Unfortunately, they don't open till 9, and I'm supposed to be at work by 8:30.

Am I the owner of a Wii and Wii Fit? Nope. The responsible Laura kicked in and reassured me that this wasn't worth being late to work for -- not to mention figuring out how to explain it to the lady who carpools with me. Smile

So . . what would you do if faced with this choice? Be 45 minutes late for work and get a Wii/Wii Fit for $.99 (or some other item you really desire); or forego the Wii/Wii Fit and follow your normal schedule?

I probably would have called work (or e-mailed) to tell them I would be late, then get the Wii and Wii Fit.

i dont know what wii/wiifit is. Is that bad? Am I really out of the loop? If the item normally costs $40 or more, I would have been late to work and inconvienced my carpooler. Otherwise, I would go to work on time. I guess $39 is the price I am willing to sell my routine and positive job record for. Such a low price. I feel cheap.

What I considered doing was to call my carpool lady and ask if she'd mind leaving at 6:30 instead of 7 just to see if there was a line at the store. If there wasn't, then of course I'd want to get in line and stay till they opened. I just wasn't sure how willing she'd be to wait two hours -- maybe if I told her that I'd let her use the Wii when her grandkids visit? Smile
    Oh well, too late now.

    Game,

Wii and Wii fit is a video game syste/video game which togehter cost ~$500 retail -- or a whole lot more if you put it up on Ebay due to high demand and low supply.

"IF" there's going to be a line at the store???!!
You better camp out the night before, or you'll never get it! That's better than "Black Friday" specials, and people wait all night for those!

I have the WII Fit and I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it!! But I don't know if I'd wait overnight for it.

WHOA!!! 500?? yes i would have stood in line all night long for that! But i can only image 100 other people thought so too...and there is a line around the corner. You should have def checked out the line on your way to work, then bailed on the carpooler if the line was short. Then bought the gameset and sold it to the 10th person in line for $100 to cover the cost of a cab to work, and bought you a few dinners as well.

Jodi - That's what I was afraid of - that the line probably had already started by the time I read the ad! Smile
Soundrella - I'd love the Wii Fit - but not enough to camp out overnight for it either!

Game - I'm the driver (my carpooler doesn't have a car) so she'd have to get a cab (or stay with me and be late as well.) If I'd managed to nab it, I'd be keeping it. The Wii is the first video game system that I've ever even *considered* buying. I just can't justify spending $250 for it (*IF* I could even find it to buy!)

My husband doesn't work so he'd get it (& promptly sell it. LOL).

Likewise, if I had no other choice, I might go pick one up. Simply because it really doesn't matter when I get to work. Wink If I had a job where it mattered, I'd just go to work.

I probably wouldn't sweat it because you know a few people waited overnight. My dh would, for one. So I think I would just give up before even trying anyway.
