Updates, Video for Patient Saver

August 22nd, 2017 at 01:12 am

So ... DH got some discouraging news last week. His shoulder that he'd been having physical therapy on - which wasn't helping - has two shriveled up rotator cuff tendons. The only option offered was cortizone shots 2x a year. Otherwise, just live with it.

So he won't be off work for 2 -6 weeks, but he now has to live with two messed up shoulders.

Ugh.

----
Two months after writing the check to the fence guy, we have progressed to having the fence posts delivered. No holes dug, no posts put up, etc.

What a lesson this is for us.

----
I am now down 38lbs from January. 20lbs more and I'll be at my lowest weight in 15 years.

I am thinking of looking for a plant based doctor to see if they can help me figure out why I still have little energy and am still having sleep issues.

---
I watched the eclipse today. I knew I wanted to do it, but I had no idea how amazing it really would be. I had almost decided against doing it after reading articles expounding the dangers. Then I took a two second glance at a 1/4 covered sun, and was hooked!

I found myself almost compelled to look up, even when I didn't have my glasses on. It was a strange pull.

---
I'm going to be getting a standing desk at work! I just have to go over to purchasing and choose what I want.

I'm hoping this will make me move more.

----
Patient Saver - I watched this video today which I think you may like. It's interviews with a number of plant based doctors (Greger isn't included though)

I found it fairly interesting.

I had 3 hours of overtime yesterday welcoming uni students to school. Lots of fun Smile

Congrats on the weight loss, Laura! I agree with your take on the eclipse--it's so odd and fun. I'd LOVE to be able to sleep like I could in my teens and twenties. The hot weather and hot flashes are a brutal duo.

38 lbs -- that's awesome! Very sorry about DH's diagnosis. It's hard to live with chronic pain.

Wow! congratulations on weight loss. I think DH will get so much relieve from Cortizone shots, he'll wonder why he delayed. The fence guy sounds so frustrating, I can't imagine why he is procrastinating. Hope he get's it done before ground freezes.

Thanks for the video link. I will definitely watch it, tonight.

I'm sorry to hear about the rotator cuff but are you sure it's beyond help? years ago I had a rotator cuff injury after foolishly pulling all my weight forward when I put on a pair of cross country skis. The doctor suggested surgery. I declined. It took a while, but it did heal on its own.

I didn't have glasses either but felt no compulsion to look up. I did go outside and spend time out there just to "experience" the somewhat darker light conditions but we had just the partial eclipse and it wasn't that dramatic.

    hanks everyone!

PS - Two of his three rotator cuffs/tendons are completely shriveled up. He is thinking about getting a second opinion.

    I had glasses, but I was sharing them with a co-worker who didn't ...

Snafu - I hope they do the trick for him!

MEC - I think I did sleep pretty well in my 20s ...

CB - Yeah, he's having a tough time dealing with it.

I realize our medical systems are wildly diverse but I suggest if DH makes an appointment for a second opinion, it's important that he makes a commitment to follow through on the chosen action. The damaged rotator cuffs and tendons will not heal themselves.

Girl, you rock! 38 pounds! That's incredible. Smile I wish you felt better, though. I hope you can find someone who can help. Could stress be playing a part?

Good job on the weight loss! You have done an incredible job! Hopefully you can find a doctor to help you feel better.
Sorry about your husband's rotator cuffs. Ouch.
