We Don't Do It Your Way

September 18th, 2009 at 02:00 am

Remember when BK had the slogan "We Do It Your Way"? Well, apparently they don't adhere to that anymore.

Tonight I stopped by BK because I was wanting a veggieburger, but since I'm moving in a few days, I didn't want to add to my freezer contents. (by buying a box of them)

Well, they have the Mushroom and Swiss steakburger. I LOVE Mushroom and Swiss. When I was in highschool in Minnesota at a boarding academy I would walk into town twice a month to Hardee's and get their Mushroom and Swiss - hold the burger. Smile Texas doesn't have Hardee's. Frown

Anyway. I ordered a BK Veggie Burger and asked them to put mushrooms and swiss on it. I was told they couldn't do that. So I said, well then, could you give me the steakburger, but just switch out the veggieburger for the steakburger? Nope, can't do that.

Arghh!!! Seriously, how hard is it to add mushrooms and swiss to a different sandwich??

So at any rate, I've made some progress on my getting ready for Sunday's move. My freezer is completely defrosted, and all my books are packed up. I've tossed some clothing that needed badly to be tossed. Next I need to get my kitchen all packed up.

Tomorrow I'll be working from 6 to 11, and then I have to do a library observation from 3 to 5 (for one of my classes) so I'm going to have to pack fast. Most likely I'll end up leaving some of it to be packed Saturday night and early Sunday morning before the movers get here.

    Hold the pickle
    Hold the lettuce
    Special orders don't upset us
All we ask is that you let us
    Serve it your way!

That was their jingle when I was a child, back when I'd never been in a BK, years before they had a mushroom & Swiss steak burger.

BK has a veggie burger? In Texas, no less?

You are headed in to the home stretch this week.

lol - i once ordered a vegie burger form a local fish and chip where we used to live - they had just changed it from a salad and vegie patty, to a grilled eggplant, capsicum, haloumi and mushroom burger. sounds good, but i really felt like some salad on it! and it was SUCH a big deal for them to do it, the girl on the phone was like 'so... you want lettuce and tomato on it...?" in the end i was like "don't worry! i'll put it on at home!" and i did Big Grin

LOL. In Virginia and New York they had Roy Rogers restaurants, where they just give you the meat and cheese on your bun and you go put the toppings on at their "fixin's bar." So I would order a plain bun and fries, then go make myself a nice lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle sandwich with mustard at the fixin's bar. Nice thick tomato slices there too, unlike the pitiful things you get at all other fast food places. I wish they had Roy Rogers here!

    Thanks CCF!

Whitestripe, that burger sounds really good! It's funny the lady had such a hard time understanding what you were wanting.

Thanks Mrs! I shouldn't be offline - even if my main pc is off for awhile, my iPhone will still connect. Big Grin
Ceejay, Roy Rogers sounds like a great place for vegetarians and people who are very particular about what they want on their sandwich. I'm surprised I never went to one when we lived in NJ (30 minutes from NYC.)

I hate when people can't think outside the box even a little bit. Once at a BK in Boston I asked for some mustard for my meal and you would have thought I asked someone to take off their shirt. Of course, customer service isn't always taking the lead with the employees, either. Terrible wages, no insurance, polyester uniform... I'd be grumpy, too. (But I would still give someone mustard in a little cup, if there weren't any little packets!)

    Hi Lux,

I've had some trouble getting connected to the internet - now am connected and am trying to get all classwork finished before Wednesday. I'm planning on updating once I'm a little more caught up. Smile
In a few words - I'm moved - mostly. Big Grin

Sorry about the BK debacle. Who knew they couldn't add a little yum to your veggie burger. And, I haven't eaten there in years. Veggie burger?? Who knew. Veggie Burger may then lead to Tofu Shakes. Maybe not a bad thing. Hey, eating stuff like that is insurance for your health, I've been told. Good luck on the move.
