Long Day - headache

March 29th, 2005 at 03:37 am

Let me sum up my day:
1. New student is not there when school starts.
2. Withn five minutes of M entering the room, I'm ready to scream bloody murder.
3. Kids finally settled down and working. New boy shows up.
4. Cell Phone on the blitz and won't let me make any calls.
5. Major headache starts after lunch and still hasn't let up.
6. Miss Prima Donna throws not one, not two, not three, but at least four major hissy fits today.
7. I'm told I can't participate in a Market Study for first grade teachers because I don't work in a public school - would have paid me $100!!
8. After driving around endlessly trying to find the Cingular building, I find it. Salesman gives me a replacement battery free of charge to see if that solves the problem. Yay!

Am very tired. My head is killing me. And tomorrow is Parent/Teacher conferences - most people signed up before four o'clock, but ONE person signed up for 5:30! Wah! Woe is me. Though I do have to say I have it better than my friend Tammy did today, she had the pre-k and her class all by herself, since the pre-k teacher decided that the thing about not calling in sick unless you have a doctor's note didn't apply to her.

Ok. Am going to bed. NOT looking forward to tomorrow.

Keeping It Frugal in Texas,
Laura

I jsut thought I would chime with my simpathies. I used to teach in a small school and man I hated having to do 1st and second grade for more than math and a game (my only tasks), but during that math I had k-4, k-5 and 1st and 2nd, total of only 20some kids, ugh.

I used to play a LOUD, game on the floor, everyone thought I was crazy, including the kids, they sat for it cause no other teacher would let them get that loud (hallway echoed the whole length, but not in our room) They would sit for the longest math lesson to get to that game. Was simply a round of flashcards, where as soon as you knew the answer to the card in front of you you would say it, over and over till I got back to them (sat in a circle, 20 kids BIG circle!) I had a stack per grade, per group skill, of course all k-5 kids weren't as good readers, and I did some math some sight words, whatever. Anyway at the end we counted who had the most cards they loved it, I was young and crazy to listen to that racket!

I had a A sort o similar to your M in second, thankfully not all day. He so needed attention. My mother and I were the only one who could 'sit on him' heaven forbid one or both of us was sick! I bet you miss them when you leave though Smile

    Thanks Princess Perky,
I love the game you played with your kids. I might just have to try it with mine. Smile Today so far has been much better. I already have 4 of my conferences done. Yay!
