Feeling Blah

June 4th, 2014 at 02:35 am

I think the move has caught up with me. Last night and today I have felt really run down and blah.

This morning I got the Internet hooked up here so I can start training for the online tutoring job tomorrow. It is so nice to be able to use my computer again.

The interview on Sunday I think went well overall. I won't know for sure until later this week.

I got some bad news from my former employer. They let go of the IT person - the one who I worked with a lot and had lung cancer multiple times last year. Apparently they are going to have the new librarian also be the IT person. Yeah, that's going to go well. Looking Forward, this is an example of loyalty from a boss huh. :roll eyes:

Been spending way too much money. Hopefully the job I'm about to start will help with that.

A religious school let go an employee with (because of ??) lung cancer? On first hearing, that sounds shocking.

Hope you come to love your new city. You have kept it Frugal in TX, in NM, in NE! Frugal NEwhere.

    Joan,

I don't think it is due to her multiple episodes of lung cancer. I think they are trying to cut corners and have decided that one person can do the library, computer lab AND all the IT work on campus. Ummmmm..... Oh, and this one person has ZERO library experience. All he has is about 40 pages of notes I left for him. He'll have NOTHING from our IT person because she was not planning on leaving. Good luck kid.

Yep, I have tried to keep it frugal in lots of places. Hopefully this will be the last one. Smile

Moving is exhausting, physically and mentally. All those things to think of. Try to take a little break and put your feet up, drink some tea or visit something beautiful (Sunken Gardens).

Yep, it sure is CCF. I like the idea of Sunken Gardens - it is a beautiful spot.

I just found out that I did not get the job I interviewed for on Sunday. Frown Oh well, keep on looking.

    Just reboot now. Smile
I'll bet you feel thankful they didn't pull the IT help from you! I don't see how (after reading your posts)that someone could do both jobs. And isn't there a bunch of new computers to set up too?

Bummer about the job, but there will be others. Smile
BTW - You can email me when ever you want.

There is such a cavalier attitude about librarians -- as in, anyone can do it! I have the same thing in my profession. My office is grooming a secretary with no research experience to take over when I'm gone. Yes, she's very likeable. No, she doesn't know how to do it, and NOT ANYONE CAN DO IT.

I feel very bad for the IT person who was let go. It does seem like religious organizations should make more compassionate decisions, if they're going to walk the talk.

LF - Thanks. Smile Yeah, I really do not see how one person can do all three jobs. The only way possible would be to make V my assistant full time instead of 20 hours a week. V was my sanity saver - and that was with only doing two of the three jobs.

I did email you twice - both times from my phone. I think some of my emails haven't been going through or something. Anyway, the situation has kind of worked itself out - but if you do get the email, I'd still like to hear your take. Smile
CB - I know. It is so frustrating. I remember my first year being told by the Title 1 teacher at the time - "Your job must be so relaxing. Just shelving books all day." Arghh!!! It's kind of a joke with NE and I now though, so it was good for that at least. Smile

No emails received here. Frown Glad you are doing okay. Smile

LF - My email has been acting wonky again - both on my phone and on the desktop. I changed the settings back to basic (they'd somehow changed back when I updated my browser) so I'm hoping that will fix some of the issues.

Yep, the question is moot now. Smile
