Foolish Money Moves

April 19th, 2006 at 01:07 am

In the past three days I have made two very foolish money moves, I am ashamed to admidt.

The first move was letting my craving for a Pizza Hut stuffed crust pizza override my knowledge that I had a perfectly respectable Red Barron pizza in my freezer (cost less than $2 on sale + coupon).

The second move I didn't discover until I went into my purse to get out the $20 to pay for the pizaa. On Sunday I had stopped at Walgreens and got a couple items, along with taking out a $20 for cash. Apparantally I forgot to take that $20 out of the Walgreen's bag before throwing it away!!!! The trash bag with that WG bag in it has already been taken to the dumpster (before I discovered this horrible news.)

So, now I need to figure out where I should deduct this $20 from in my budget. Should I take it from my "other" money - which wouldn't be too much of a hardship for me? Or, should I deduct it from my "Fun" money (though I'm not sure I have that much balance)? Hmmm... this was definitely an expensive lesson on checking my store bags BEFORE throwing away!

KIF,
Laura

Ouch! losing that $20 hurts. Could you take $10 from each?

You're not alone in spending unwisely. I had $42 carefully stashed away and today when I heard the ice cream truck, I busted into one of my quarter rolls and spent $3.75 for ice cream bars for the family. Now I'm down to $38.40 until the 3rd of next month when I will be able to add $55.30 to my savings. However, I'm going to miss my goal of $100 by roughly $6.00. I am not pleased with myself about that and promptly told the boys that the next time the ice cream truck comes around they must take the money out of their spending jars and buy their own. They get a regular allowance each, and know that they can only spend the money out of their spending jars;savings jars are not to be touched.

i threw away accidentally a wag $10 gc.. worried about it for a whole nite.. next morning i went out and brought all the trash back in from the curb, went thru it and there it was... the point is i spent more than ten bucks worrying.. i should have just let it go.. you see i get greedy chasing after every deal and it is alot of work.. so, i grieve when something goes amiss.. i need to use the risk/reward attitude like i do with stocks....
we have way too much to take care of and so little help.. and sooooooooooo much to remember.... we all have amiss days!! learn to chill is what my son always tells me. it is hard to do.
