My First Entry

January 17th, 2005 at 07:58 pm

Hi! I just typed a LONNNGGG entry - guess I took too long typing it and I timed out or something. So, I'll make this a bit shorter then add to it another time.

Let me introduce myself. I am 29, single with no kids, and an elementary teacher for the past 8 years. I've had a number of bumps and bruises on the financial highway of life - an especially big one five years ago. But now am beginning to do much, much better, with LOTS of life lessons learned. For numerous reasons, I am planning on switching careers in June. I am taking courses right now to become a Real Estate Agent. The road ahead won't be easy, especially since I only have myself to support myself, but I believe with God's help, and with the lessons I've learned, I'll make it through.

Until next time!

Keeping It Frugal in Texas,

May the Lord bless you in your new journey to frugalty.

An interesting book is "The Millionaire Next Door". It uses a teacher as an example who is the millionaire.

One thing good about being a real estate agent is that you can do it part time & keep your full time job until the real estate job takes off. That way you don't starve for the first 2-3 months that it takes to get your first check.

One thing to beaware about is to make sure you pay your taxes quarterly. I knew a lot of agents who got into great financial trouble for not doing this.
