Sold Stocks, Surprise gift

April 13th, 2016 at 12:42 pm

I finally pulled the trigger on selling the stock on Monday. They sold at 251, and this morning they open at 249 .. so maybe good timing?? I think it will still be another day or two before I can move the money though.

I tried moving my money from my ROTH, but there is a $45 debit from when I transferred the ROTH from Trowe - so can't do it without making a phone call. How annoying! Why they can't just take the $45 out automatically ... Ugh. At least I'm not in a time crunch.

Last night I checked my Amazon registry and saw that someone had bought the InstaPot for us! When I looked to see who it was, I was very conflicted. It was my mom's most recent ex-guyfriend. They're breakup wasn't pretty. I called her and asked her what she wanted me to do - she told me to just accept it graciously. So ... I guess I'll do that.

I had a dentist appointment yesterday. No cavities! yay!

Afterwards I stopped at Shopko to see if they had any tennies in my size at a reasonable price. I thought I had found a pair, but when I got to the checkout counter, found out they weren't wide width. Boo!

I did however find a new pair of dress pants that fit well and were reasonably priced (only due to a sale price!) and two tops (also on "sale") One of the tops I know I'll keep - the other one I need to try with the skirt I'm always trying to figure out what to wear with. Maybe I'll try it on and post a photo here and see what you all think ... I love the skirt, it's just so hard to find a color/top that works with it.

The wedding is just 11 days away ... yikes yikes yikes! I'm looking forward to seeing my family, but am also nervous about whether I'll have everything put together in time or not. I'm also hoping that my allergies aren't going to be making me miserable that weekend ... like they currently have been ...

I think Mr FT and I have decided to leave the majority of the flooring in our new house alone. We will take out the carpet in the bathrooms and replace with some kind of wet resistant flooring, but otherwise wait and see if the other flooring will truly be a problem. It was, as I found out, only installed a few months ago. That would be such a waste to pull it up without giving it a chance first.

---
I helped Mr FT with his taxes the other night. He's getting a nice bit back. Between that, and his inheritance check, we're going to be able to take a big chunk out of his medical and student loan debt, even with taking some of it to fund "present" and "future."

I also was reading the instructions for the 1095 form, and it mentioned something about if you need to make different allocations due to a marriage in the year. So it sounds like the IRS planned for circumstances similar to ours. That gives me hope for our taxes next year - that they're not going to be a mess or a lot owed.

Along with my allergies being bonkers, I've been having a really sour stomach the last few days. The only thing I can think of is that I've eaten some fried foods that I don't normally eat, plus been drinking more soda. So .. no more soda and no more fried foods! Hopefully the sour will go away soon ...

What an exciting time for you and Mr. FT. I doubt you will be posting much between now and the wedding so I want to take this time to say congratulations and wish you all the best. I am sure you have received all sorts of marital advice by now. The one piece of advice that I received 13 years ago that helps me either to this day is "love him with all your being and remember that love because there will be time you don't like him very much." Quarrels and disagreements will happened (typical fight of "how can you step over the towels on the floor and not notice them?")but I always love him.

Wishing you and Mr. FT the happiest of futures, Stephanie

I've been thinking about you and how close your wedding is! Just in case you take a short break from blogging (you might get a bit too busy), I just hope everything goes wonderfully. You will be a gorgeous bride and I hope with your big day everything goes right xxx

Ah.. thanks ladies. Smile If I keep waking up at way too early an hour, I'll still have blogging time. Smile It's the best stress release. Smile

Have you tried OTC Flonase for your allergies? It's been helpful for my daughter around here where the pollen is crazy, crazy high with all these trees! My daughter takes it in addition to her generic Zyrtec.

Great advice from your mom, just accept the gift, because it is a gift. If the person didn't want to give it they wouldn't. If they felt pressured that is their issue.

Glad to hear you will try the flooring. I bet it will be better than you expect!

Yesterday was a good day to sell! Smile

CCF - Yep. I have been taking Allegra D 24 hour + OTC Flonase daily + a small dose of generic Nyquil almost daily ... Am still miserable. Am still getting bad sinus headaches by the end of the day.

I was more conflicted because the person wasn't very nice to my mom and she's trying to break ties with him. It just felt kind of weird to have him giving us a present under the circumstances.

Yes, it was a good day to sell. Smile Just saw it actually ended at 247, not 249!

Well, if you are on all of that...I'm just going to pray the allergens move on before your big day. Or maybe you'll just be so happy and excited, you won't notice as much. Smile

You're getting so close! I have terrible allergies and take 5 medications (generic Zyrtec, Flonase, Proventil, Montelukast, and an as-needed albuterol inhaler) year-round to control them. During this time of year, it's even worse, but I found that adding in Mucinex DM helps me a lot. Mine's worse at night, so I take that, my as-needed inhaler, and some Zzzquil if I'm having trouble sleeping. I've improved significant amounts on the Mucinex alone.

I hope you can get them under control. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! I'm sure everything will come together. DF made me promise that starting 48 hours before, I'd let everything go and just focus on being present. I hope you do the same and enjoy your day Smile

Try not to worry as your wedding day approaches. Just relax and let things happen. I got my wedding dress caught as I was making my way towards the aisle. Also, I found out from hubby later that he actually got locked out of his mum's house on our wedding day. Luckily, a neighbour had a spare key.

I think you'll be too busy on your big day to worry about allergies Smile

I didn't know you could tell who gave a gift from an Amazon registry! In fact, I remember a time my son was trying to figure out who sent him a place setting from Amazon and he couldn't.

Take your allergies as they come on your wedding day -- for better or worse, right? Just enjoy your day; it will be perfect because it is your wedding day.

Did you find out if you could seal the floors? I agree, if they're that new, hang on to them. Sometimes inspectors exaggerate problems or potential problems -- they want to make sure they are doing their job -- but their suggestions can be impractical.

Thanks DBF30- That's a lot of meds I hate to add more to my routine but maybe I need to. I'm going to try to let it b by Friday when part of my family gets here.

    Thanks SG!

CB - yep- they have a Thank you list which shows who bought what and their address. Smile No sealant would help according to what th inspector said.

I hardly ever hear anyone else use the word, 'tennies' anymore. Where are you originally from?

  12. FrugalTexan75 Says:
    1460594888

Big Grin Where am I not from? Seriously though, growing up I was born in Tennesse, then we lived in Illinois, and then Wisconsin and then Iowa, and then New Mexico, and then New Jersey, and then when I was 17 I went back to Tennessee for college, and then to Texas to graduate from college, and then to California for a few years, and then back to Texas, then back to New Mexico, and now Nebraska! Smile Most likely I picked up tennies from books I've read.

  13. Suzanne Says:

Wow! I was born in Illinois, and lived most of my life in Wi. I still say, 'tennies', but I almost never hear anyone say that anymore Smile

I don't say 'tennies' too often, but I wonder if it is our age. Born in the 70s? Just a thought.

CCF - that could be it. Smile
