Fainted!

March 25th, 2015 at 01:10 pm

So Monday I started feeling really sore - thought it had to do with the exercise class I did on Sunday. By Monday night I was so sore I could barely move.

Spent Monday night under an electric blanket - made it so I could move by Tuesday morning.

Tuesday though I wasn't sore, my skin hurt. Thinking flu.

Went home after work and slept for 3 hours straight, got up for two, then went back to bed.

This morning I called in sick. I was feeling pretty light headed / nauseous and decided to make a fruit smoothie to get some nutrition/calories in. I was just working on pouring the smoothie out when I blacked out. I think I must have been out for at least ten minutes.

My head landed in Kari's water bowl. It took me a while to figure out that yes, I had fainted. The blender was on it's side with some contents spilled out, and the lid on the floor. Thankfully I didn't hit the edge of the counter or something.

Kari was definitely spooked - as was I. I've never had this happen before. I'm keeping myself awake in case there was a concussion or something. My doctor's office doesn't open for an hour.

I think I was dehydrated - yesterday I barely drank 32 oz of water, plus all the sleep and taking cold/flu medicine.

This was pretty freaky.

Dehydration can do that, especially on top of being sick. Definitely talk to the doctor about it though, because there are neurological conditions that can cause fainting, too!

Please go see a doctor today, Laura. It can be related to an illness and it was probably a fluke, but you likely hit your head. It would be good to get checked out today. Smile

Thanks guys. As soon as my doctor's office opens up I plan on calling them. I know I did hit my head ...

Im glad you didn't hurt yourself more in the fall - that must have been pretty bewildering when you came to. FinX it all gets sorted at the doctor's.

I just called my doctor's office - they told me I should go to the Emergency room and get checked out. Trying to get in touch with NE now (he's sleeping most likely right now.) They don't want me to drive there.

I think I could walk to the one that is a few blocks away, although that might not be a good idea either.

Please go and see a doctor. I've only fainted once and I remember how scary it was. Hope you feel better soon.

I pass out all the time (when compared to a normal person). I have a condition where it happens when I experience sudden, severe pain. Luckily, it's never happened when I was alone, so I can't imagine how scary it must have been for you to just wake up on the ground like that. One of the things I've come to learn is the signs like dizziness and heat tingles in my back. If you sit and put your head between your knees or lie on a cold floor, it can help to keep you conscious.

Praying for a quick recovery for you and hope you are feeling better soon!

Nope, not at ER yet. NE must not have his phone in his room.

Debt free - Yeah, it was pretty scary. I'd felt a little nauseous and ate some peanut butter, then kept working on the smoothie. Don't remember any signs - just one second pouring the smoothie, and the next moment lying on the ground. I thought at first that I was on the kitchen tile (cold, wet) but then realized it was Kari's water dish my head was in.

Hope you are at ER. If not, and you still can't get ahold of NE, call a cab to take you.

That's a good idea Chloe - if I don't hear from him in 20 minutes I'll do that.

Wise move not to drive. Fainting can really through you off the rest of the day, so once you are all checked out I wish you good rest for the remainder of the day. My sister fainted once when she had a virus. She broke her toe.

Home from ER - clear CT scan, bloodwork fine. Told to see my doctor for a check up in the next few days.

NE called me as I was on my way home - his phone had been on his bookshelf in the living room - which is what I figured.

Thanks everyone for your concern and thoughts!

I'm a fainter and so I think people get overly melodramatic about it. But, the bad part (if it's your normal) is certainly the fall. I am glad you got checked out and are okay!

I can't imagine fainting alone. Usually someone else has to fill in the blanks. It is freaky!

Thanks everyone. My head really hurts - especially when sitting up for very long - hoping I can work tomorrow. going to try at least.

I'm glad I got it checked out too, although I'm not looking forward to the medical bills (I did check to make sure the place I went to was in Network, so that should help some.
