Notifications worked for a little while ... andThis and That

January 7th, 2015 at 01:34 am

Email notifications of post replies seemed to work for a short while ... however they aren't working again. Frown
(to clarify - I am talking about notifications of responses to other people's posts - not my posts.)

---

So I tried baking a potato in the oven sans foil twice now. Ehh... it works, but I really don't like how dry the skin gets. Almost too tough to eat. It was saved by the juice from my baked beans I topped it with, but often I like to eat my sweet potato plain. I did top them both times with olive oil and cut slits in them.

Five no spend days in January so far! Smile Yesterday I squeaked by temptation just barely ...

Work had some stressful (majorly) elements to it and I WANTED chocolate. I resisted though. Smile

---
I got a package from my brother today that UPS "attempted to deliver" during the workday of course. :roll eyes: So I had to drive over there to get it this afternoon -- it was a framed photo of my brother and I the last summer I was out in CA with him. Big Grin How sweet Smile

---
I did two really dumb things yesterday - thankfully no consequences from either one. First, I left my purse in my car when I went in to work. I only realized this at lunch time ... I had to sit on my phone for 20 minutes before it would turn on.

Then when I got home I left my keys in the door AGAIN! The only way I found out about this is when NE came over and found them in the door. UGH!

---
I watched episode 4 of POI season 3 tonight .. while stepping of course. Big Grin

I also redeemed 2500 SBs for a $25 PayPal cash, and have received all $20 in AGC from SBs.

--
At work today I hauled a huge load of boxes up from the schedule room on a cart. I think I may have overdone it a bit ... my back is really protesting tonight. Ouch.

Ok, off to catch up on blogs! Smile

Oh man, I love baking potatoes in olive oil and salt now! Like potato chip on the outside almost. Big Grin But I can't imagine eating it plain that way; I can see why you'd want it more moist for that. I like to twice-bake them; cut a lid off after they're cooked, scoop out the insides, mash with margarine, salt, pepper and soymilk, and stuff the mixture back in to bake a bit more.

We did have baked potatoes last night. I baked them at 425 for 40 minutes (I think), and I loved the crispy outside! No foil. Maybe your are baking too long?

Ceejay - I wouldn't eat a regular potato plain, but a sweet potato? All the time! Yum! I've never done twice baked potatoes - may have to try that sometime.

CCF - I think I did over cook Monday night (90 minutes at 400) but tonight it was only in for about 60 minutes, maybe less at 400. (Monday night was an accident .. I kind of forgot about it ...) Smile Maybe I should try the higher temp and shorter time (set a timer!!)

I missed the "sweet" part. Smile Whoops! We hardly ever bake our sweet potatoes whole; usually do them as fries, or sometimes cubed on a baking sheet or we do a mash.

No problem. Smile Sweet potatoes are my fave, red my second and baking potatoes my third. Baking sweet potatoes whole is so easy - and that's what I need so I don't go for the other "easy" foods ala Burger King or the microwave dinners. Big Grin

I'm fretting about security issues resulting from leaving keys in the door. I wonder if you'd consider a ritual that requires you to hang your keys from something like a Command hook or even cup hook on the wall adjacent to the door. It takes 21 days of conscience repetition to set that action as a habit. It also makes departure easier as you'll know exactly where your keys are!

I agree with Snafu -- do whatever you can not to leave your keys in the door! You are lucky that you are apparently in a safe area!

I've left my keys in the front door too many times. Stupid scary.

I agree too. We've got a hook in the kitchen that I'm in the habit of using now.
I'm going to try baking a sweet potato soon, we only ever use white so it'll be a nice change. Plus SG might eat it (she left hers tonight) and J needs to be introduced to it.

I'm not too happy about the key thing either. I have a place I put my keys at when I come in, but didn't do it ... The only connection between the two times is that I was distracted ...
