The Lost Returns! etc.

December 4th, 2014 at 05:02 am

This morning as I opened my door to head to work, I heard a jangle. When I looked down on the ground .. there were my keys!!

I was deliriously happy to have my car fob back. Smile

My boss wanted me to call my landlord right away and have him change my locks. I didn't have his number in my new phone ... and couldn't remember his last name. (I've been having a good bit of brain fog lately .. the key incident is just one of many ... NEED to get my thyroid medicine going again. Badly.)

I did call him when I got home from work. He had no problem with rekeying the doors at no charge to me. He's going to do it in the morning.

Last night a bit after 9 I heard someone messing with my door lock. It got both Kari's and I's attention, but both of us were way too comfy to get up. Now if the door had opened ... it would have been a different story.

NE tonight was really getting on my nerves telling me all about what he would have done if he'd heard someone turning a key in the lock... He couldn't understand why I didn't get up to look out the window or open the door .. Um yeah, that wasn't the thought running through my head at the time, thanks.

Anyway ...

I talked to my boss K about the 15 minute break thing. Apparently it is a hornet's nest and part of the drama drama drama ... I told her I would be fine either way - with or without. Oy vey.

I also had a day off approved .. the 15th. Big Grin Make for a long birthday weekend.

Of course, it won't be all fun and games ... I finally called the doctor today. (forgot my phone yesterday at home .. yet another brain fogggggg) The first time they could get me in was --- the 15th!

---
I stopped at a local health food store today to see if they had anything papaya. No luck. I'm considering ordering seeds online - add them to my morning smoothies. I'd rather find a local source though.

While there I did pick up a container of Kale for $1.40. I've thought of trying Kale before, but it sounded like so much work. Will try it in my smoothie tomorrow. Smile

---
I got my gas bill for November - $30.41. I have $40 budgeted, so that means $8.59 goes into the savings categories. Smile

So glad you found the keys!! Yay!!

The door thing freaks me out. I would have looked out the window, too.

Just curious, What were you thinking when it happened? Why didn't you look?

Was it someone who found your keys and was checking that they belonged to your apartment? Kale is pretty easy actually. Wash, and rip the hardy stems off. Actually, I more like pull the leaf area from the stems. A day off will be something to look forward to.

Kiki - I was thinking "Am I really hearing what I think I'm hearing? OMW I think I am. What if they open the door? What am I going to do?" I waited a minute or so after the noise happened, and then decided nothing was happening, so I could relax and go back to enjoying the comfort of my blaknket and cat on my lap. Getting up to check it out ... never even crossed my mind.

CCF - Could be. NE doesn't think anyone with anything good on their mind would go around "checking"

Kale... what can I say, I like spinach where there is nothing to rip. Smile lazy a bit Big Grin

I'm confused. You lost your keys in your apartment but found them outside the door? And someone tried to open your door with them and then left them on the floor? I'm not following.

I'm confused. Who was the person at the door?

=:O Omigosh on the lock jiggling!!!

Check if your stores might carry dried papaya. It is so sweet and delicious.

It's disturbing to hear that giving employees their legally mandated breaks is at all questioned at your workplace. And it's a city job, isn't it?

CB and CrazyLib - I thought I'd lost them in my apartment, but apparently not. I think what happened was when I got back from my walk to the library on Saturday and had opened the door that I was distracted by my neighbor talking to me and wanting to see Kari - thus I either left the keys in the door lock or dropped them on the ground. They definitely were not in the apartment!

I have no idea who was at the door.

Joan - In NE it apparently is not legally mandated.

Yes, I would have been totally freaked if someone was trying to get in the door. You seem very nonchalant about it. Even if they didn't get in becus you'd already had the locks changed, I would certainly want to know if someone I knew was trying to get in. Be careful!

PS - I was freaked about it at the time - part of why I didn't get up, but was listening ready to go into action if need be. I have no idea who it was at my door. There really isn't anything I can do about it (other than pray) and keep my door locked. So I guess that's why I'm not too freaked about it now.

Sorry, I lost this thread. I'm truly worried. I hope you cancelled have the landlord re-key to initial group if there is someone, out there with a key

Sorry, I lost this thread. I think the level of danger is higher than you believe. I so wish you had called police at the time to report the incident since it can be part of something happening in the neighbourhood police are alert to but they are not notifying residents until there are more facts. Make sure your phone with speed dial 911 is within reach as you move from room to room, area to area.
