Interesting Walk, etc.

August 7th, 2013 at 02:40 am

This morning I was about 14 minutes into my walk when I started to pass by my principal's backyard. I usually say hi to her two dogs as I go by, but this time her Maltese came out and greeted me! I found the hole it had dug under the fencing, and then called my principal to let her know. In all, I spent about ten minutes making sure the dog didn't get hit by a car or go to far away. I was glad I was there to help!

The SD card I ordered came with some books I'd ordered - seriously fast! If I remember when I ordered the card, I'd say this was almost one-day delivery! As soon as I put the card in my phone, the Entertain app started working. So far, about 30SBs. Big Grin

Between the paltry monthly bonus I earned for July, generous Jun videos and a few other small offers - I managed to get enough to cash out for my last $5 AGC for August today.

---
I got over to the library today for a few hours. I didn't really accomplish much ... although I did manage to get the entrance / class table area cleared out (of course most of the stuff was just transferred to the work room table. That is an ongoing area that needs to be cleared .. it gets close to being cleared off once in a while ...)

Tomorrow I'm taking Kari in to get her nails trimmed and pick up my prescription (synthroid.)

My goal for today (before I go to bed) is to finish putting away my clothes from my closet reorganization project (I ran out of proper hangers and had to go buy some more .. by the time I got back I'd kind of lost the zeal ...) I also want to sweep the house - esp. Kari's bathroom.

Tomorrow I need to do a trash run (and break down the pile of boxes in the corner); scrub counters and mirrors; and wash the sheets so they'll be clean for my mom.

Last night NE told me he thinks he'll come here Labor Day weekend. (yay!) So today I double checked with my principal about where he can stay. I found out that I had had a miscommunication with her previously - he can stay with me in my house, as long as it is for a short visit (less than 7 days.) Woo hoo! That'll make life so much easier (than trying to find a guest trailer that's available or staying in a hotel 30+ miles away.) Now I just need to make sure my air mattress is in good working order (for both my mom's visit and NEs visit!)

That's good that NE can visit you in your place the entire stay. Good luck getting your days tasks done!

    "...about 14 minutes..."

    Quite a precise "approximation!"

I think it's critical to understand that you're so worth it to enjoy a clean, tidy, free of trash build up home. One effective tool is an inexpensive Swiffer type unit. A damp rag cut to measure replaces the dry cloth to mop floors, Just spritz water/vinegar/dish detergent mixture directly to floor and wipe. If you just hate this type of effort, hire someone to do the work bi weekly or once a month.

Corral papers in a box, bag or tray, set a timer for 15 minutes to create 3 piles. 1st trash, you don't need to keep envelopes, enclosures, advertising, flyers etc. 2nd items to retain like tax related, contracts, legal documents, insurance, bills to pay, photos. 3rd stack receipts, papers you need to read to decide whether to retain or dump. Stuff trash in a bag to take out next trip, put the retain group in a folder & date August.13 added to whatever container you use for retained paperwork. Clip those papers that need review and do your best with a cup of tea each evening. Ask yourself 'what is the worst thing that would happen if I throw it out?' Try to trash most. Take school related papers to school! Add retains to the August file...until Sept.

...in hope of making tasks easier

    Thanks CCF Smile
Wino - heh Smile I've walked that route often enough that I have a pretty good idea of how much time it takes to get to different points. Smile Plus I paused my fitness app when I realized I'd be there more than 20 seconds.

Snafu - Thanks Snafu. I do like my place to be clean and organized - I'd really prefer it that way. It's just that when life gets super busy/I get super tired, etc., and things start to slide ... it becomes overwhelming to do more than just keep up with the basics of keeping dishes washed, laundry caught up, trash picked up, and Kari's box clean.

When my mom's here this weekend, I'm actually thinking of asking her to help me get my place in tip top shape as possible rather than working in the media center. If I can start out where things are pretty neat, clean and organized, then doing the 15 minutes a day pick up routine would probably be enough to keep it up - and not feel overwhelming.

I do like your idea of having 3 boxes/trays for paper stuff. I do have a lot of that around that really needs to be organized/filed/trashed.

    Catching up on blogs..
You'd really have NE sleep on an air mattress? *clears throat* Wink

Heh Smile No, the air mattress would be for me - he'd have the bed. I have a full size bed - mom and I shared it one night while she was here ... it was a snug fit. There's no way NE and I could both comfortably sleep in it - not to mention that he has major sleep issues.

Yes, a full would not be the most comfortable arrangement.
I just felt like I needed to give you a little teasing. Smile
