Fun road trip though spendy

March 30th, 2012 at 01:21 am

My coworker and I took a road trip to Taos, Santa Fe and Albuquerque. We left Tuesday morning and drove all the way to Taos, then stayed at a hotel in Santa Fe Tuesday night.

We ate at this neat French Bakery in Santa Fe where we both had crepes for lunch on Tuesday. My coworker also introduced me to Bubble Tea - it's the weirdest thing ... chewing on these little flavored bubbles while drinking ... We stopped at Pet Smart, Barnes & Nobles, Trader Joes, etc.

In Taos we visited Kit Carson's home/museum, a couple different churches, and this huge gorge. We drove up there one way, and took a different route on the way back. It was quite beautiful.

I spent more money than I was really planning on ... but overall I think it was worth it.

Here are some pictures I took:
A wooden bridge which was falling apart:

The bridge going over a huge gorge.

A hewed out log bridge with water running from one side to the other.

A sign in the park where the gorge was located.

When I moved to this area 28 years ago, I had to cross a wood bridge just like the one in the first few pictures, to get to my house on the river. One day, a heavy truck almost fell thru, broke the bridge and we had a much, much longer drive to get to town. The bridge was built in the 20's and was still used by all that lived in my area. (It is out in the boonies)

Love your pictures! How is your teeth doing? My sister, who is also in TX, just had a dentist visit this past week. Hope you had an awesome Sabbath!

    Ima,

I have no idea how old the bridge in my pictures is, but there was a sign at it's entrance that said "Keep Off" ... so I'd imagine that a truck crossing it would have a similar experience as on your bridge. Smile
    Sicily,
My teeth seem to have gotten better without a dentist ... who knows how long that will last. I do need to find a dentist here though, but since it isn't urgent anymore will wait til after school is out. Smile
I had a lovely Sabbath, and I hope yours was as well. Smile
